Research Tips: * George Clooney is involved in a $3 billion/25-acre real estate project in Las Vegas called Las Ramblas, which will include among its 11 towers, a 5-star luxury hotel, luxury residences (both condo and condo-hotel), bungalows, spa and health club, nightlife, dining, shopping, a major casino and, after its Barcelona namesake, the city's first-ever, open air pedestrian promenade. George says (Aug 05) he is also talking to other celebrities such as Brad Pitt about their involvement.
* Madonna is reported to be a partner in the Blue Door restaurant which is part of the Delano Hotel on Miami's South Beach.
* We're not sure that celebrity businessmen who are in the travel trade anyway (eg Richard Branson), really qualify for this list, so we'll just mention that Peter de Savary (who has, let's face it, hardly surfaced in the media in the last decade or two) has built up a collection of luxury clubs and hotels in the UK and abroad including Bovey Castle in Devon, Skibo Castle in Scotland, The Cherokee Plantation in South Carolina, St. James Clubs worldwide and The Abaco Club in the Bahamas.
* Tori Spelling (Who she? An American actress 'parantly. Daughter of legendary TV producer Aaron Spelling) and her husband Dean McDermott have been running a B&B in California, which is also... a tv reality show called Tori & Dean: Inn Love, now (2008) signed up for a third series. "Real" people can stay at the Chateau La Rue in Fallbrook (2 hrs south of LA), but it's usually a little over-booked!
* DJ Norman Cook (aka Fatboy Slim) and his wife, Radio & TV presenter Zoe Ball have a 100ft sailing yacht, Barracuda, moored in Sardinia and available to rent with its 4-man crew.
* David Beckham is lending his name to a world-class soccer academy which will be part of the Cabo Sao Roque resort in Brazil, which, when completed in 2016, will also have a tennis academy and the Rubens Barrichello Driving Experience.
