If you are an American, guns are no big deal - you may own one or know somebody who does, and handling or firing one is not an unusual experience. In Britain children still stare open-mouthed at armed policemen at the airport.

A number of destinations have spotted our fascination with the unknown and offer a chance to hold and fire anything from a WW2 Luger to a rocket-propelled grenade... as long as we're willing to pay for it, bullet by bullet!

These are some that we are aware of:

Alaris Military Adventure Ukraine Your chance to play with boys' toys - drive tanks; fire machine guns, RPGs, etc; fly in a Mig fighter jet - on firing ranges and aerodromes in the Ukraine.
Country of Tourism Russia These are the guys who do all the extreme tours in Russia like cosmonaut training, MIG flights and, in this case, among their military adventure tours the 'Top Gun' tour takes you to an underground shooting range to try your hand on a selection of guns.
Party Krakow Krkow, Poland Stag party specialist with a shooting day excursion, firing AK-47, Uzi, etc.
Prague Experiences Prague, Czech Rep. Shooting range experiences, firing M16s, Kalashnikovs and other guns. Prague Tourist Guide offer the same excusion.
Regro S Riga, Latvia No website. Tel 760 17 05. Shooting gallery in a former soviet underground bunker. Range of weapons old and new from pistols to automatic rifles. See article in InYourPocket guide
Riga Out There Riga, Latvia Fire AK-47s, Uzis and a number of other iconic guns in a former Soviet bunker.
Thunder Ranch Phnom Penh, Cambodia No Website. Thunder Ranch is nickname of the Cambodian 911 Paratrooper Commando base where tourists and back-packers can pay through the nose to fire a selection of light and heavy weapons on their firing range. See article in Times Online.
