Notes

  • Madonna is reported to be a partner in the Blue Door restaurant which is part of the Delano Hotel on Miami's South Beach.
  • We're not sure that celebrity businessmen who are in the travel trade anyway (eg Richard Branson), really qualify for this list, so we'll just mention that Peter de Savary (who has, let's face it, hardly surfaced in the media in the last decade or two) has built up a collection of luxury clubs and hotels in the UK and abroad including Bovey Castle in Devon, Skibo Castle in Scotland, The Cherokee Plantation in South Carolina, St. James Clubs worldwide and The Abaco Club in the Bahamas.
  • David Beckham is lending his name to a world-class soccer academy which will be part of the Cabo Sao Roque resort in Brazil, which, when completed in 2016, will also have a tennis academy and the Rubens Barrichello Driving Experience.
  • Val Kilmer has been trying (June 2010) to get a license to operate B&B 'Casitas' on his Pecos River Ranch in New Mexico but is meeting with opposition from locals who, according to the Wall Street Journal' are miffed with him about describing the neighbourhood as the "homicide capital of the Southwest".
