Arenal volcano, Costa Rica

Central America is becoming increasingly popular with British travellers. The shifting politics of the region in the 70s/80s have settled down and tourists have been visiting in increasing numbers (upward of 30,000 Brits each to Guatemala and Costa Rica in recent years ) attracted by ancient monuments, rainforest biodiversity, volcanic landscapes and, unique to the region, contrasting Pacific & Caribbean coastlines.

There are a couple of missing countries here - El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua (lists under construction) - but otherwise Central America is fairly well-covered.
