• Alastair Sawday's Special Places to Stay in Spain directory is worth checking out if if you are looking for really sumptuous, sometimes eccentric, privately-owned, guest houses, hotels, pensions and B&Bs run by hosts who welcome their guests with kindness and generosity. Sawday publishes a range of these books and sooner or later, like "Hoover", "Sawday" will become a generic verb or noun. To "Sawday" will mean "to seek-out the perfect or the idiosyncratic. To have disdain for common standards, and to hold international brands in contempt".... At the same time, bear in mind that, even if he selects them, they pay to be in his directories.
